Two festivals join the wiki and SFIF opens submissions

Two festivals have new pages on improvfestivals.org. The San Francisco Improv Festival has opened its 2026 submission window, and the Detroit Women of Comedy Festival and XL Festival are both running this week.

New festivals on the site

Imperdible. Festival Internacional de Impro de Galicia runs October 22-25, 2026 in Santiago de Compostela. The 5th edition is organized by The Momento Impro under the direction of Galician actor Antón Coucheiro and spans theater, music, and dance improv across multiple venues, with programming in Galician and Spanish.

Festiv'Impro 2026 runs May 21-23 across three Yvelines towns near Paris: Versailles, Plaisir, and Villepreux. The 23rd edition is organized by IMPRONET and pairs improvisation matches in the Quebec-style format between teams from Quebec, France, Belgium, and Morocco.

Festival updates

San Francisco Improv Festival opened submissions on May 11 for its August 12-16 return at Silk Road Bar in Union Square. The window closes June 20, with tiered application fees: $25 through May 21, $35 through June 5, and $45 through June 20.

Detroit Women of Comedy Festival opens today, May 15, for its 7th annual edition at Planet Ant in Hamtramck, Michigan. 2026 headliners include Heather Jay (Two Nights at the Indy), Dubalicious, and Julia Schroeder & Friends across three stages.

XL Festival is mid-run in State College, Pennsylvania (May 14-17), with 2026 acts coming from Baltimore, Cleveland, San Diego, and Boise alongside regional teams from Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, and Centre County.

Del Close Marathon added more names to its June 8-14 run in New York. Edi Patterson, Patti Harrison, Please Don't Destroy, Tim & Eric, and Gianmarco Soresi join the previously announced lineup, with pre-marathon shows June 8-11 and the 56-hour main marathon June 12-14.

London Improv Festival swapped one of its four 2026 headliners. Connor Ratliff (host of the Dead Eyes podcast) joins Achilles Stamatelaky, Ryan Gaul, and Suzi Barrett for the May 21-24 edition.

Ottawa Improv Festival confirmed Toronto improviser and actor Kris Siddiqi (CBC's TallBoyz, Bad Dog Theatre) as a 2026 headliner. The festival runs May 28-30.

Global Improvisation Initiative Symposium announced Anthony Veneziale, creator of Freestyle Love Supreme, as the opening Un-Keynote speaker for its July 8-11 run at Portland State University.

Flock Festival is staging a smaller "Nestling Edition" June 26-28 in Amsterdam, with fewer workshops running for longer durations and a tighter show schedule than the inaugural 2024 edition.
