Camp Improv Utopia East is the East Coast edition of the Improv Utopia retreat series, launched in 2014 to bring the summer-camp-meets-improv format to improvisers on the eastern side of the country. The 2026 edition runs Friday afternoon through Monday morning at Camp Pontiac in Copake, New York. Previous East editions have been held in the Poconos near Stroudsburg, PA, and most recently at Camp Kennybrook in Monticello, NY (2025), before moving to Copake for 2026.
The format mirrors the other Camp Improv Utopia retreats: workshop-intensive instruction from touring master teachers, shared cabin lodging, all meals provided, evening performances and jams, and outdoor recreation. Priority registration goes to first-time campers.
Camp Improv Utopia runs multiple retreats each year: see also Camp Improv Utopia West 2026 (May 22-25 in Cambria, CA) and Camp Improv Utopia Yosemite 2026 (September 25-28 in Oakhurst, CA).
