Overview

The Festival d'Impro de Québec (FIQ) is the largest francophone improvisation festival in the Americas, held annually in Quebec City. Founded in 2023 by Dominic Lapointe, co-founder of the Punch Club and longtime improv organizer, the festival has grown rapidly from a three-day debut to a 10-day, 15-show event spanning venues across the city, including Le Diamant, Méduse, Palais Montcalm, and Impérial Bell.

The festival showcases a wide range of improv formats beyond the traditional hockey-jersey match: solo performances, long-form narrative, musical improv, family-friendly shows, themed evenings, and the Punch Club's signature competitive "street improv" (3v3 and 1-on-1). Over 22 Quebec City improv organizations participate, and the programming features both emerging talent from university and CEGEP leagues and established performers like Arnaud Soly, Vincent Bolduc, and Pier-Luc Funk. The first edition ran April 28-30, 2023, making it Quebec's first festival dedicated exclusively to improvisation. The second edition (2024) expanded to 10 days and sold out its 600-seat Le Diamant opening show in under 10 days.
