Festival d'Impro de Québec

Overview

The Festival d'Impro de Québec (FIQ) bills itself as the largest francophone improvisation festival in the Americas. It is produced by Le Punch Club, the Quebec City non-profit behind the "street improv" competition of the same name. Dominic Lapointe, who co-founded the Punch Club in 2012, launched the festival in 2023 as Quebec's first event devoted entirely to improvisation. The festival has grown from a three-day debut into a 10-day run of roughly 15 shows across venues including Le Diamant, Méduse, Palais Montcalm, and Impérial Bell.

Programming reaches well past the hockey-jersey match format Quebec is known for. Recent editions have included solo shows, long-form narrative, musical improv, family matinees, themed evenings, and the Punch Club's own 3v3 and one-on-one bouts. More than 20 Quebec City improv organizations take part, and past lineups have mixed emerging players from the university and CEGEP leagues with established names like Arnaud Soly, Vincent Bolduc, and Pier-Luc Funk.

The fifth edition is scheduled for April 22 to May 2, 2027. Programming had not been announced as of August 2026, when the festival site was listing off-season Punch Club and Improdôme shows instead.
