Va de Impro (officially Encuentro Internacional de Improvisacion Teatral VA DE IMPRO) is Valladolid's annual international improvisation festival, produced by iMpro Valladolid Teatro and financed by the Valladolid City Council. The festival began in 2017 as part of the city's Teatro y Artes de Calle (TAC) programming and became an independent international event in 2021. The 2026 edition marks its 10th anniversary, framed by the organizers as "a meeting point for those who live impro from the stage, pedagogy, and research."
Programming centers on LAVA's two halls (Sala Negra and Sala Concha Velasco) with two shows per day, typically a solo and a group format, alongside masterclasses, training and exchange spaces, and collective creation activities. Past editions have hosted performers from Spain, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, Peru, Israel, France, Italy, Germany, and New Zealand, and over its run the festival has programmed more than 120 improvisers, 30 professional companies, and 12 world premieres.
The confirmed 2026 lineup includes Mariana Palau, Agostina Viglietta, Pilar Villanueva, Antia Vidal, Ruben Hernandez, Edu Ferres, Victor Castro, Pedro Placer, Irene Rujas, Andres Pastorini, Toto Curcio, German Santori, Gala M., Gonzalo Pinan, and Miguel Canalejo.
The festival offers a slate of multi-day masterclasses each year, taught by visiting Spanish and international improvisers. Past topics have included narrative dramaturgy, score-based improvisation, physical and dance-based work, character and identity, and emotional states. Workshop packs that combine masterclasses with show passes are typically sold through LAVA's box office.
