Overview
The Tucson Comedy Arts Festival (TCAF) is an annual improv-led comedy festival produced by Tucson Improv Movement at its home theater on East 9th Street in downtown Tucson. The 2025 edition marked the 11th year and ran nine days, drawing 70+ performers from outside the TIM Company - traveling in from Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, North Carolina, and across Arizona - to complement the local lineup. Though the festival name foregrounds "Comedy Arts" and includes some sketch and stand-up programming, improv dominates the schedule since TIM is a long-form improv theater.
The 2025 program featured Jacque Arend's all-day workshop "Advancing Your Play with Technique, Tags, and Three Beats" culminating in a showcase of the Swap Meet long-form format (developed in Phoenix), along with The Soapbox Best of 2025 night on November 14 with monologists Mike Plunkett, Cyd Ponce, and Sarah T. Dubb.
