Overview
The Heat is an international improv comedy showcase presented by The Improv Centre on Granville Island in Vancouver. Returning for its 4th edition over five days in late January 2027, the festival brings performers from around the globe to Vancouver for shows, workshops, and shared learning alongside The Improv Centre's resident company.
Submissions
Applications for 2027 are open via two tracks. Headlining Troupes (3 or fewer members, English-language, must teach a workshop) apply by June 15, 2026. The new Festival Ensemble track invites 3-4 individual international improvisers to perform together with TIC coaching; applications are due July 6, 2026. All selected performers must be available January 25, 2027 for orientation and have legal entry to Canada.
Workshops
The festival programs daily masterclasses and workshops led by the international guest performers, alongside a free all-levels community jam during the weekend.
