Overview
The PlayGround Comedy Festival is a mixed-format comedy festival produced by PlayGround, a playwright incubator, at its 99-seat Potrero Stage in San Francisco. The program covers stand-up, improv, sketch, and comedic plays. Every performance is simulcast online, and admission is free with a suggested donation of $10 to $30.
The second edition runs March 12 to April 4, 2027. PlayGround plans to select up to 20 projects and give each one three performances, for up to 60 performances over four weeks. The first edition ran March 6-29, 2026.
Submissions
Proposals for 2027 are due by 11:59pm on October 31, 2026, through a Google Form linked from the festival guidelines. Projects are chosen by lottery, with up to 15 slots reserved for PlayGround-affiliated artists and up to 5 for other artists. Pieces should run 30 to 50 minutes. Selected projects pay a $600 facility licensing fee and split box office proceeds 50/50 with PlayGround.
