The Out of Bounds Comedy Festival (OOB) is Austin's longest-running and largest nonprofit comedy festival, showcasing improv, sketch, and standup from Austin and around the globe. Founded in 2002 by Jeremy Sweetlamb, the first edition featured seven local improv troupes plus groups from College Station, Dallas, and Kentucky, performing over two nights at The Hideout Theatre.
Since then OOB has grown into a multi-day, multi-venue festival drawing performers from across the country and internationally. A second stage was added in 2005, the festival achieved 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in 2009, and standup was integrated into the lineup in 2010.
Submissions for the 2026 festival open May 1, 2026 via oobfest.com. The deadline has not yet been announced; the 2025 window closed around late June.
