Overview
The Ocean State Improv Festival is an annual improv comedy festival held each June at The Contemporary Theater Company in Wakefield, Rhode Island. Founded in 2019, the festival brings together 30-40 troupes from across the country for nightly troupe showcases, mixer shows, and workshops on Rhode Island's southern coast.
A signature feature is the festival's mixer shows - Theatresports, Micetro, Pirate, and the Duo Bracket Challenge - where performers from different troupes collaborate live, often for the first time. A broad slate of workshops and multi-day intensives cover topics from physical storytelling and genre-based improvisation to emotional connection work.
