Overview

La Semaine de l'Impro is an annual theatrical improvisation festival held in Nancy, France, running since approximately 2010. Now in its 17th edition, the festival brings together amateur and professional improv performers from France and abroad for a full week of shows, workshops, and community events. International companies from countries including Brazil, the USA, Colombia, and Belgium have participated, with programming spanning theatrical, musical, clownish, and literary improv formats.

The festival opens with the Tinkers weekend, two days of back-to-back short performances where troupes from across France and beyond take turns on stage in a participatory, open-format setting. The weekdays feature daytime workshops led by professional improvisers and double-bill evening shows at the Théâtre de Mon Désert. The week closes with a signature international tournament at Salle Poirel, which has grown from a three-nation to a four-nation format.

Workshops

The festival offers daily workshops across a range of topics, from physical improv and beatboxing to inclusive themes like disability in performance and gender representation. Workshops are tiered by experience level and led by professional practitioners.
