Irreverente - Lisbon International Improv Festival

Overview

Irreverente is Lisbon's international improvisation festival, founded in 2022 by Portuguese improviser Andre Sobral and Brazilian improviser Luana Proenca. Produced by Embuscada, a cultural association based in Lisbon, the festival brings together improvisers from across Europe and beyond for five days of shows, workshops, lectures, debates, and jam sessions in the Alcantara neighborhood. The 2023 edition drew performers from 19 countries.

The festival is multidisciplinary, spanning improvised theatre, dance, music, and hybrid performances. Programming includes nightly shows, morning workshops for all levels, art fairs, dance jams, and a live podcast. The festival received the EFFE Label (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe) for 2026-2027, a quality mark from the European Festivals Association.

The 2026 submission deadline was February 10, 2026.
