Overview

Improv Fest Ireland is Ireland's original international festival of improvised theatre and comedy, founded in 2013 by Neil Curran. It was Ireland's first festival dedicated solely to improvisation. The festival takes place at the Teacher's Club Theatre in Dublin's Parnell Square and features 2-3 shows nightly plus 10-12 workshops across the week, drawing performers and teachers from over a dozen countries.

The festival holds the EFFE Label (European Festivals Association's quality stamp for remarkable arts festivals), making it the only dedicated improv festival in Europe with this distinction. It is self-funded through ticket sales and volunteer work, and is one of the few improv festivals that offers payment shares to performers. A Belfast edition runs the week before the Dublin dates (September 25-28).

Workshops

The 2026 edition features international teachers including Maro Lesioti (Greece), Navaris Darson (US), Courtney Pong (US), Alan Pakosz (Poland), and Diana Brown (US), with topics covering scene work, comedy techniques, improv formats, screenwriting applications, and viewpoints methodology.
