GouareK (full name: "GouareK - Stages d'Improvisation Intensifs") is an intensive improv theatre workshop program held annually in Lesneven, Brittany since 2009. Founded by Gwenaele Le Doussal in the town of Gouarec, it grew from a single week-long course into a four-week summer program attracting international professional improvisers as instructors. In 2021, leadership transitioned to the association "GouareK - Stage Impro," which continues the program's emphasis on accessible, community-driven training.
The 2026 edition features 12 workshops across four weeks at three skill levels - Exploration, Fondamentaux, and Technique - covering long-form, storytelling, character work, musical improv, physicality, and more. Workshops run Monday to Friday, with the price including tuition, meals, individual-room accommodation at Lycee du Cleusmeur, and shuttle transport from the nearest train station or airport. The festival also hosts free open-air public shows, including "Le Catch d'Impro," a crowd-judged improv competition.
