Overview

Impro en Seine is Paris's major improv festival, presenting approximately 100 one-hour shows over four days at the Theatre du Gymnase Marie-Bell. The festival uses all three of the theatre's stages - the Grande Salle (750 seats), Petit Gymnase (160 seats), and Studio Marie-Bell (90 seats) - organized like an improv village where audiences move freely between performances. Around 300 improvisers from France and internationally perform across comedy, drama, cabaret, musical, long-form, short-form, and experimental improv formats.

Founded in 2014 by Marc Occhipinti and Eduardo Larrain of the Satourne improv troupe, the festival began as "Les 12 heures de l'impro" with 150 spectators at L'Archipel theater. It expanded from 12 hours to 24, then 72, before growing into a multi-day event at the Theatre du Gymnase. The festival is entirely volunteer-run.
