The Baltimore Improv Festival (BIF) is the largest comedy festival in the Mid-Atlantic, bringing together 80+ improv teams and 400+ performers for a full week of shows. Founded in 2007 at the Theatre Project with just three nights of performances headlined by the UCB Touring Company, the festival has grown into a seven-night event with workshops, drawing performers from 25+ cities and 15+ states.
The festival is produced by the Baltimore Improv Group (BIG), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing improvisational theater in greater Baltimore. BIG operates a 3,000 sq ft theater in the Station North Arts & Entertainment District that opened in 2017. The festival was cancelled in 2020-2021 due to COVID-19 and resumed in 2023.
Show submissions for 2026 closed on April 19, 2026. The festival features teams from Baltimore alongside performers from New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and beyond.
