321 Mainz is an international improv festival in Mainz, the capital of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Billed as the city's newest improv festival, it brings together local ensembles and international guests at the Institut Francais for three days of workshops and shows. The 2026 edition features 6 workshops and 8 shows themed around the Roaring 1920s.
The festival was founded by three local improv ensembles - "Franz fehlt?!", the "Flamigos", and the "Scheiterhaufen" - who formed the association 3...2...1.Mainz e.V. to create a community-focused improv festival. All three groups have been performing improv across Germany and internationally for years.
The 2026 edition offers workshops ranging from half-day to three-day intensives, taught by international instructors including Aree Witoelar (Norway) and Laura Doorneweerd-Perry (Netherlands) alongside local teachers. Topics include long-form narrative, character creation, film noir, and shortform games. A dedicated youth workshop for ages 14-20 is also offered.
