Overview
2nd Best Fest is Richmond, Virginia's annual comedy festival, a three-day showcase of improv, sketch, and stand-up produced by the nonprofit Coalition Theater. Now in its ninth year, the festival draws performers from Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Baltimore, Raleigh, Washington DC, and Richmond across four venues in the Downtown Arts District - Coalition Theater, Theatre Gym at Virginia Rep, Black Iris Social Club, and Gallery5.
The 2025 edition featured headliners Miss Golightly (LA), Kornfeld and Andrews (NYC), Angel Bones (Chicago), stand-up from Chloe Radcliffe and Sara Schaefer, and sketch from Claire & Kim (Chicago). The festival also offers workshops from visiting instructors, with past topics covering longform structure, narrative skills, and sketch writing. Proceeds support Coalition Theater's mission of funding performances, comedic education, and community outreach.
